Now, as WALA transitions from the Star Rewards Program to the Diamond Rewards Program, we continue to uphold the very highest level of accreditation within the breed.

WALA Recognition: From Star Rewards to Diamond Rewards
At Red Desert Doodles, we are proud to say we have consistently received the highest accreditation: the WALA All-Star Breeder Award. This award was part of the WALA Star Rewards Program, which recognized breeders who exceeded WALA’s core standards in health testing, ethics, and responsible breeding practices.
Recently, the Star Rewards Program was upgraded and restructured into the WALA Diamond Rewards Program, raising the bar even higher for excellence. While the old Star Rewards recognized breeders at different star levels, the new Diamond Program offers tiered recognition (One, Two, and Three Diamonds) based on advanced health testing, professional development, and breeder commitments.
Key Differences:
Star Rewards Program (previous system):
Awarded “All-Star” titles to breeders who went above WALA’s core requirements.
Focused on health testing, ethical breeding, and producing high-quality Australian Labradoodles.
Recognition came in the form of star badges (one through four stars).
Diamond Rewards Program (new system):
Builds on the Star Rewards foundation but introduces even more rigorous requirements.
Recognition is now given through Diamond levels (One, Two, and Three Diamonds).
Includes advanced health testing such as OFA hips, elbows, patella, and extended genetic panels.
Requires ongoing professional development and education for breeders.
Adds elective “Breeder’s Choice” practices such as temperament testing, proven therapy/service dog lines, and mentoring other breeders.

About Red Desert Doodles
We are the Barker Family, located in the beautiful Red Desert region of Southwestern Utah. With seven sons, six daughters-in-law, and a growing crew of grandchildren, family is at the center of everything we do. When we’re not camping, hiking, or playing pickleball, you’ll find us enjoying time around the pool or barbecuing with loved ones. And of course, dogs are always part of the fun: with a name like Barker, how could they not be?
Our journey into Australian Labradoodles began after more than 25 years of breeding and training German Shorthaired Pointers. While we loved our shorthairs, their high energy and training requirements left us searching for a calmer, allergy-friendly family dog. We found our perfect match in Penny, our first Australian Labradoodle. Penny’s sweet nature, gentle temperament, and non-shedding coat won us over instantly, and from there, Red Desert Doodles was born.
